SSC GD Constable 2026-27 Selection Process

SSC GD Expected Cut Off 2026-27
Note on Expected Cut Off
The SSC GD 2026-27 official cut off will be published after the CBT, PET/PST, and final result stages. The expected ranges below are based on previous year official cut off data, vacancy-applicant ratio trends, and paper difficulty analysis. They are indicative — actual cut off depends on final vacancy count, total applicants, and paper difficulty in 2026-27.
Previous year reference: SSF Male UR Final Cut Off 2024 was 159.61 out of 160. NCB UR 2025 was 148.33. Scores are highly competitive especially for premium forces like SSF and NCB.
Expected Cut Off — Key Values (CBT out of 160)
SSC GD Expected Cut Off 2026-27 — Male Candidates (out of 160)
| Category | Expected Cut Off Range | % of Total (out of 160) | Safety Target |
|---|---|---|---|
| UR (General) | 142 – 150 | 88.8% – 93.8% | Score 150+ for high safety |
| OBC | 138 – 145 | 86.3% – 90.6% | Score 145+ for high safety |
| EWS | 140 – 147 | 87.5% – 91.9% | Score 147+ for high safety |
| SC | 130 – 138 | 81.3% – 86.3% | Score 138+ for high safety |
| ST | 125 – 133 | 78.1% – 83.1% | Score 133+ for high safety |
| ESM (Ex-Servicemen) | 105 – 115 | 65.6% – 71.9% | Score 115+ for safety |
Male Cut Off — Analysis Note
Previous year SSF Male UR final cut off was 159.61 out of 160 — extremely high for premium forces. For general state/UT-wise allocation, cut off is relatively lower. The force-wise cut off varies significantly — CISF and SSF are typically highest, while forces with larger vacancies (CRPF, Assam Rifles) tend to have relatively lower cut offs. OBC cut off can equal UR in high-competition scenarios as seen in previous cycles.
SSC GD Expected Cut Off 2026-27 — Female Candidates (out of 160)
| Category | Expected Cut Off Range | % of Total (out of 160) | Safety Target |
|---|---|---|---|
| UR (General) | 138 – 146 | 86.3% – 91.3% | Score 146+ for high safety |
| OBC | 135 – 142 | 84.4% – 88.8% | Score 142+ for high safety |
| EWS | 136 – 144 | 85.0% – 90.0% | Score 144+ for high safety |
| SC | 120 – 130 | 75.0% – 81.3% | Score 130+ for high safety |
| ST | 115 – 125 | 71.9% – 78.1% | Score 125+ for high safety |
Female Cut Off — Analysis Note
Female candidates generally have slightly lower cut offs than male candidates due to the vacancy ratio — female vacancies are typically 10–15% of total. Previous year SSF Female UR final cut off was 154.45 out of 160. The overall expected cut off range for female UR (138–146) is based on broader force-wise averages, not just SSF. Female candidates who are strong in GK and Maths have a clear edge.
SSC GD 2026-27 — Score Safety Zones (out of 160)
| Score (out of 160) | Selection Probability | Category Applicability |
|---|---|---|
| 150+ | Very High — Safe for all categories | UR, OBC, EWS, SC, ST Male & Female |
| 140–150 | High — Safe for most categories | OBC, EWS, SC — safe; UR borderline |
| 130–140 | Moderate — Depends on category | SC/ST — likely safe; UR/OBC — risky |
| 120–130 | Risk Zone — Only SC/ST with luck | UR/OBC — very unlikely; ST — borderline |
Cut Off vs Force Allocation
The cut off ranges above are overall CBT cut offs. Force-wise cut offs vary significantly. SSF and NCB consistently have the highest cut offs (155+ for SSF UR Male in recent cycles). CRPF, BSF, Assam Rifles typically have relatively lower cut offs due to higher vacancy share. Your force preferences at application directly affect your allocation chances — list forces with higher vacancies earlier if selection is the primary goal.
SSC GD Cut Off 2026-27 — Influencing Factors
| Factor | Effect on Cut Off | What to Watch |
|---|---|---|
| Vacancy Increase | Cut Off Decreases ↓ | If 2026-27 vacancy is higher than 25,487 — cut off likely to fall |
| Vacancy Decrease | Cut Off Increases ↑ | Fewer seats = more competition per seat |
| Easy Paper (All Shifts) | Cut Off Increases ↑ | Normalised scores bunch up at the top |
| Tough Paper (All Shifts) | Cut Off Decreases ↓ | Harder paper = lower normalised scores across pool |
| More Applicants | Cut Off Increases ↑ | SSC GD typically sees 1.5–2 crore+ applications |
| Less Applicants | Cut Off Decreases ↓ | Fewer applicants = better odds per seat |
| Normalisation Effect | Variable | Multiple shifts — final score is normalised, not raw. Easier shifts may lead to deflation in normalised scores. |
| Force-wise Vacancy Split | Variable by force | If CISF (biggest employer) increases vacancies — overall cut off falls; if SSF increases — SSF cut off falls significantly |
Cut Off Strategy for 2026-27 Aspirants
- Target 150+ out of 160 — gives you safety in UR category regardless of vacancy fluctuations.
- GK and Reasoning sections are the biggest differentiators — most candidates lose marks here due to poor static GK.
- Maths at 160-mark exam (20Q, 40 marks) — even 1–2 wrong answers in Maths can shift your normalised score significantly.
- Do not attempt blindly — negative marking of 0.25 per wrong answer applies. Leave questions you're more than 50% uncertain about.
- Force preference strategy: If your goal is selection, rank CISF and CRPF higher (more vacancies). If your goal is a specific posting location, choose forces accordingly.

SSC GD Constable 2026-27 Preparation Strategy
SSC GD preparation requires four simultaneous tracks — CBT academic preparation, PET physical training, PST standards awareness, and document/medical compliance readiness. Do not wait for CBT results to begin physical training.
| Area | Priority | Strategy |
|---|---|---|
| Reasoning (GI&R) | High | Coding-decoding, series, analogy, syllogism, blood relations. Daily practice for speed — time is critical in 60-minute exam. |
| Mathematics | High | Percentage, ratio, profit-loss, time-distance, mensuration. Topic-wise timed sets are essential for speed. |
| General Awareness | Medium-High | Current affairs (last 12 months), static GK — polity, history, science, awards, sports. Short daily revision sessions. |
| English / Hindi | Medium-High | Grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, idioms. Practice with negative marking awareness — skip doubtful questions. |
| Mock Tests | Essential | Full 80Q mock in strict 60-minute mode. Track percentile, not just raw score. Analyse weak areas each week. |
| PYQs | Essential | Solve all SSC GD previous year papers — best indicator of actual difficulty, topic frequency and language. |
| Physical Training (PET) | Critical | Start running from Day 1. Male target: 5 km under 22 min. Female target: 1.6 km under 7:30. No last-minute physical prep works. |
Top SSC GD 2026-27 Preparation Tips
- Target 150+ out of 160 in CBT — this gives you safety margin for UR and OBC categories across most forces.
- Negative marking is 0.25 per wrong — do not guess blindly. Skip questions where you're more than 50% uncertain.
- GK is the biggest differentiator — most candidates score similarly in Reasoning and Maths, but GK separates ranks. Focus on last 12 months current affairs and polity/science static GK.
- PET starts at CBT shortlisting — typically 10x the vacancy count is called for PET. Build physical fitness before notification itself.
- Normalisation applies — your final score is not your raw score. Focus on accuracy within 60 minutes, not attempt count alone.
- Recommended books: Lucent GK, R.S. Aggarwal Reasoning, R.S. Aggarwal Quantitative Aptitude, NCERT Science/Social (Class 8–10), any SSC GD PYQ book.
- Force preference matters — fill force preferences thoughtfully during application. CISF has highest vacancies. List forces by vacancy size if selection is your primary goal.
